Ashley Johnson helps injured South Carolinians make sense of what comes next.
For many people, a workplace injury or personal injury claim is not just a legal issue. It affects their health, their livelihood, their family, their sense of stability, and their ability to plan for the future.
Ashley understands that.
As a South Carolina workers’ compensation and personal injury attorney, Ashley works with individuals who are often facing one of the most stressful moments of their lives. They may be unsure whether they have a claim. They may be worried about medical bills or missed work. They may be getting calls from insurance companies and not know what to say. Or, they may simply need someone to explain the process in a way that actually makes sense. Ashley’s role is to help clients slow things down, understand their options, and take the next right step. Her practice focuses primarily on workers’ compensation claims, including workplace injuries, denied claims, medical treatment issues, and questions about what injured workers are entitled to under South Carolina law.
Before joining Williams & Roche, Ashley built a broad legal background across workers’ compensation, litigation, and health care law. She has advised hospitals, health systems, publicly traded health services companies, physician practices, and other providers on a range of legal matters, including litigation. Ashley previously represented employers and carriers in workers’ compensation cases, so she understands how the other side works. In 2024, she was named Legal Elite in Health Care Law by Columbia Business Monthly, Charleston Business Magazine, and Greenville Business Magazine. She has also earned other awards for her practice in both the health care and workers’ compensation fields.
Ashley earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She began her legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable DeAndrea Gist Benjamin, then a South Carolina Circuit Court Judge for the Fifth Judicial Circuit, before entering private practice in Columbia.
Ashley’s commitment to service extends beyond her legal practice. She was recognized by the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyers Division as a Star of the Quarter for her leadership during Community Law Week, where she helped organize safe, community-focused service projects during the pandemic. Her work included helping arrange meals for frontline hospital workers and co-chairing the South Carolina Legal Feeding Frenzy, which supported food banks and food rescue organizations across the state. Ashley currently serves on several non-profit boards in Columbia, SC.
Clients come to Ashley when they need answers. They stay with her because she listens, explains, and advocates with care.
